Manipulation

For the longest time, when Lucy would show definite signs of needing a nap, I would put her down and she would often yell for a few minutes ("ahhhh"), but it was obvious that it was forced and that she wasn't really suffering. She didn't want to take a nap, but eventually she'd settle down and fall asleep. Since her yelling didn't always get us to come to her "rescue", she has given up on it and replaced it with all-out blood-curdling screams that make me think shutting the windows might be a wise idea. Luckily, these fits don't last as long (I think energy output is greater, and she runs out of steam more quicky...). So our naptime routine is as follows: horrific sounding shrieks of terror followed by silence. What must the neighbors think?
